How to verify a UK licence
Search the register by the operator’s legal entity, not the brand. Then open the domain-names tab: a licence only covers gambling offered through the domains listed as active. A brand can hold a valid licence while the specific URL you are on is inactive.
What the register does not tell you
The regulatory-actions tab is not a complete history. Betway’s 2020 £11.6m penalty is confirmed in a Commission freedom-of-information response but no action is listed on its current register page. Check FOI releases and enforcement news as well.
Affiliate obligations
Affiliates promoting UK-licensed operators fall under the operator’s licence conditions (LCCP 16.1.1), the CAP and BCAP codes, and the Gambling Act 2005. Unlicensed brands must not be marketed to people in Great Britain.
